A Review of Lightweight Cryptographic Schemes and Fundamental Cryptographic Characteristics of Boolean Functions  [PDF]

Advances in Internet of Things (AIT) , 2022, DOI: 10.4236/ait.2022.121002
Abstract: In this paper, we survey a number of studies in the literature on improving lightweight systems in the Internet of Things (IoT). The paper illustrates recent development of Boolean cryptographic function Application and how it assists in using hardware such as the internet of things. For a long time there seems to be little progress in applying pure mathematics in providing security since the wide progress made by George Boole and Shannon. We discuss cryptanalysis of Boolean functions to avoid trapdoors and vulnerabilities in the development of block ciphers. It appears that there is significant progress. A comparative analysis of lightweight cryptographic schemes is reported in terms of execution time, code size and throughput. Depending on the schemes and the structure of the algorithms, these parameters change but remain within reasonable values making them suited for Internet of things applications. The driving force of lightweight cryptography (LWC) stems mainly from its direct applications in the real world since it provides solutions to actual problems faced by designers of IoT systems. Broadly speaking, lightweight cryptographic algorithms are designed to achieve two main goals. The first goal of a cryptographic algorithm is to withstand all known cryptanalytic attacks and thus to be secure in the black-box model. The second goal is to build the cryptographic primitive in such a way that its implementations satisfy a clearly specified set of constraints that depend on a case-by-case basis.

Effect of Polymer Blend on Diltiazem HCl Matrix Tablets Prepared by Direct Compression

Journal of Pharmaceutical Science and Technology , 2010,
Abstract: The deformation mechanism of pharmaceutical powders, used in formulating directly compressed matrix tablets, affects the characteristics of the formed tablets. Three polymers of different deformation mechanisms were tested for their impact on Deltiazem (DZ) directly compressed tablets namely Kollidon SR (KL SR, plastic deformation), Ethylcellulose (EC, elastic deformation) and Carnauba wax (CW, brittle deformation) at different compression forces. However, tablets based mainly on KL SR, the plastically deformed polymer (DZ1) exhibited the highest hardness values compared to the other formulae which based on either blends of KL SR with CW, the very brittle deformed polymer. The upper detected force for DZ formulae and the lower punch force were found to dependent mainly on the powder deformation. This difference is attributed to the work done during the compression phase as well as the work lost during the decompression phase. Furthermore, the release profiles of DZ from formulae DZ 2 and DZ 4 that based on the composition (2KL SR: 1EC) and (1KL SR: 2EC), respectively, were consistent with different deformation mechanisms of KL SR and EC and on the physicochemical properties like the water absorptive capacity of EC. Upon increasing the weight ratio of KL SR(DZ), the release rate was greatly retarded.
Slow-release fluoride devices: a literature review

Abstract: although the prevalence of caries has decreased dramatically over the past decades, it has become a polarised disease, with most of subjects presenting low caries levels and few individuals accounting for most of the caries affected surfaces. thus it become evident for the need of clinical approaches directed at these high-risk patients, in order to overcome problems related to compliance and low attendance at dental care centres. slow-release fluoride devices were developed based on the inverse relationship existing between intra-oral fluoride levels and dental caries experience. the two main types of slow-release devices - copolymer membrane type and glass bead - are addressed in the present review. a substantial number of studies have demonstrated that these devices are effective in raising intra-oral f concentrations at levels able to reduce enamel solubility, resulting in a caries-protective effect. studies in animals and humans demonstrated that the use of these devices was able to also protect the occlusal surfaces, not normally protected by conventional fluoride regimens. however, retention rates have been shown to be the main problem related to these devices and still requires further improvements. although the results of these studies are very promising, further randomised clinical trials are needed in order to validate the use of these devices in clinical practice. the concept of continuously providing low levels of intra-oral fluoride has great potential for caries prevention in high caries-risk groups.
Molecular Cloning, Characterization and Overexpression of a Novel Cyclin from Leishmania mexicana

Pakistan Journal of Biological Sciences , 2010,
Abstract: We are reporting here, the cloning and characterization of the first cyclin from Leishmania mexicana. We have identified a cyclin-like motif from the L. major genome sequencing project. A cyclin homologue was cloned and sequenced from L. mexicana genome and it showed 96.1% amino acid identity with the putative L. major cyclin. It has also sequence identity to mitotic cyclins from other organisms. Southern analysis showed that it is present as a single copy gene. CYCa has been over-expressed in E. coli as a histidine fusion and western blot has confirmed the immunoreactive property of the recombinant cyclin, which then used to reconstitute active recombinant L. mexicana CRK3. No phosphorylation of histone HI was detected by both wild type and mutated CRK3 on the activation assays suggesting that phosphorylation status and cyclin binding are important for reconstituting protein kinase activity. The results confirm that we have isolated a cyclin molecule from L. mexicana (LmCYCa) which may play an important role in the regulation of the parasite cell cycle.
